The Star Sydney will play host to the annual Sydney Championships poker tournament from 26 July-8 August, with qualifying satellites kicking off on 28 June.
Now in its sixth year, The Star for the first time will guarantee a prize pool of $1.25 million over the series. There are nine events over the 14 day Sydney Championships schedule including the $3,000 buy-in Main Event running from 5-8 August.
Players who want to qualify for the Main Event, will have a 1 in 8 chance to guarantee themselves a seat with $400 Sit & Go buy-in satellites ($375 + $25 fee), alongside regular $330 buy-in satellites ($300 buy-in plus $30 entry fee) awarding one seat for every $3,000 in the prize pool. Players can also buy directly into the Main Event for $3,300.

Sydney local and university student Benjamin Jee was the winner of last year’s $3,000 buy-in Main Event, taking home a whopping $200,634 in prize money.
In addition to their cash prize, the champion of this year’s Main Event will also receive a $9,000 24 karat gold diamond and sapphire encrusted Sydney Championships trophy ring, custom made by Cerrone Jewellers.
