10 Years and Still On Top: Royal Caribbean Wins Double At NTIAS

For the second year running, Royal Caribbean International has taken out the two top gongs for the cruising category at the AFTA National Travel Industry Awards 2017. The line known for the newest, largest and most incredible cruise ships was awarded Best Cruise Operator, International; and Best Cruise Operator, Domestic.

Since 2005, Royal Caribbean has been the proud recipient of Best Cruise Operator award nine times, and 2017’s double-win marks a particularly special achievement, according to Adam Armstrong, Royal Caribbean’s managing director in Australia and New Zealand.

“We’re incredibly proud and grateful to have been recognised by the Australian travel industry with the double cruise award at the prestigious AFTA National Travel Industry Awards this year – our 10th sailing down under.”

It all started in October 2007, when Royal Caribbean introduced Rhapsody of the Seas, the ship that started the megaship revolution down under. Carrying just over 2,000 passengers, she boasted fixtures and features that had never been seen in Australian waters, including her rock climbing wall, light-filled atrium and Broadway style shows.

Fast forward to the upcoming 2017/2018 season, and Royal Caribbean will operate four of the most modern cruise ships sailing in the region, including US$1 billion Ovation of the Seas – Australia’s very first new-build megaliner.

“Without you – our partners in the industry, we couldn’t be here today, 10 years later and still pushing the boundaries of what people thought was possible on a cruise holiday.”

“Our travel agent partners play a huge role in the success of our cruise brand sailing here in Australia and around the world. It’s a great honour to have been recognised, and we are truly grateful to the industry for your ongoing support, and to our guests – past, present and future.”

“Our congratulations go out to all other finalists and winners of the AFTA National Travel Industry Awards,” Armstrong concluded.

Ovation of the Seas joins Explorer of the Seas, Voyager of the Seas and Radiance of the Seas sailing from Sydney. Together, the four ships will offer 66 sailings around Australia, New Zealand, the South Pacific and Asia.

TRAVEL AGENTS: Royal Caribbean is offering a bonus 5% discount on Travel Agent Rates to celebrate! Available on select 2017/18 local cruises when booked before 31 July 2017. Visit for more information and terms of the offer.
