When Tourism Australia’s Head of Asian Development, Andy Jiang told me at Maximum Occupancy this week that 300 million Asian travellers venture beyond their borders every year, becoming active tourists around the world, as if that was not enough, the most amazing part of that amazing statistic is that 100 million of these are Chinese – which to me is simply staggering.
It gets even more impressive though in that Andy also told me that analysts predict that by 2020 this figure of travellers out of China will have reached 200 million, which is even more staggering, with my interview with Andy not only also revealing even more amazing statistics, but also how Australia’s inbound travel, tourism and hospitality sectors can capture their share of this massive market.
Andy also helped dispelling some misconceptions about Chinese travellers, including that many Chinese travellers no longer travel in groups, with more and more travelling independently, renting cars, getting off the beaten track, and much, much more!
I was also amazed to hear from Andy that technology is the magical key to communicating with this burgeoning market, although China also has its own unique technology networks, with virtually every one now in China communicating and booking their travel by phone, with mobile technology having taken over the world of the internet in China and posting every detail of the trip for their friends to see back home!
So, if you want to capture your slice of this amazing market for your business, check out my interview with Andy Jiang at Maximum Occupancy, by clicking on the video below – simply awesome!
