In its ongoing support of local arts, 137 Pillars House is featuring an art exhibition by Thanakorn Chaijinda, a renowned watercolour artist from Thailand.

This stunning 30-suite hotel featured on the 2013 Hot List for “Best New Hotels in the World” by Conde Nast Traveler (USA) and “Top 25 Luxury Hotels in Thailand” by TripAdvisor, is a SilverNeedle® Collection property. The exhibition series is part of 137 Pillars House’s Signature Brand Initiatives to deliver authentic guest experiences.

“This series of exhibitions featuring local artists in our Palette restaurant and in 137 Pillars House create an interesting art space for our guests and visitors, while promoting promising Thai artists,” said Manfred Ilg, General Manager.

For this exhibition, Thanakorn’s collection depicts Chiang Mai landscapes and temples as well as scenes showcasing the local way of life. Thanakorn's Elephants

With a love of art from childhood, Thanakorn studied at Metheewuttikorn School, a well-known art institution. He went on to study Lanna architecture at the Rajamangala University of Techology and after several years working as an architect, returned to his beloved painting full-time. He also teaches watercolour painting at the Chiang Mai and Mae Jo Universities.

Thanakorn has held a number of solo exhibitions in Thailand and has participated in many joint exhibitions and events.  His vivid works can be viewed at 137 Pillars House through to 31 October,  from 9.00 am – 10.00 pm daily.

Chiang Mai residents and visitors are most welcome to visit the hotel to view the exhibition, and may wish to stay on to experience the new SilverNeedle® Collection Afternoon Tea experience, or for lunch or dinner, after viewing the paintings.
