Over 150,000 visitors and local residents gathered in Hong Kong on the first evening of the Year of the Horse (31 January) to watch the 2014 Cathay Pacific International Chinese New Year Night Parade, which featured 34 festive floats and performing troupes from 15 countries and regions.

Organised by the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB), the night parade has received title sponsorship from Cathay Pacific Airways for the 16th consecutive year. To tie in with the theme “New Year Party @ World City”, the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Piazza, where the Parade started, was turned into a glittering “circus”.

Performing in this year’s Parade and representing Australia were theAussie Cheer and Dance Collective featuring Pride Dance Team from Melbourne. Among the street performers entertaining the crowd along the Parade route were Hong Kong’s “king” and “queen” of clowns, who were champions in the World Clown Competition.
