In 2010, Armstrong Group, owners and operators of the award-winning Rocky Mountaineer celebrated a milestone anniversary…..20 highly successful years operating what is arguably one of the world’s most famous rail journeys.

Since its inception in 1990, the British Columbia based, family owned business has grown to become the largest privately owned passenger rail service in North America, welcoming over one million guests onboard and while Armstrong Group’s past is rich in history and rooted in success, the goal from day one remains the same: to provide the most spectacular and unforgettable travel experiences in the world.

I recently met Dianna Schinella, Sales Manager – Asia Pacific for Rocky Mountaineer, which is a Luxperience partner and will be exhibiting at Luxperience taking place at the Overseas Passenger Terminal, Circular Quay in Sydney, 10 – 12 September, 2012.

Dianna told me about the amazing products this company offers, including forty five unique Canadian vacation packages and four distinctive rail routes, rich in history and natural wonders, through British Columbia and Alberta.

The classic though is the world renowned, luxurious train which travels by daylight through the wild beauty of Canada’s West and is the best way to experience the majestic Canadian Rockies, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

In 2011 Rocky Mountaineer proudly accepted its sixth World Travel Award as “World’s Leading Travel Experience by Train”, is listed as one of the “Top 5 trains in the world,” by Conde Nast Traveler, by Travel + Leisure magazine Western Living as one of the “Best Life Changing Trips”, and among the “Top 5 Trains in the World.”

Rocky Mountaineer has also received Travel Weekly Readers’ Choice Awards for “Best Rail Vacation”, UK Travel Agents Choice Awards for “Long-haul Rail Operator of the Year” and it ranks #5 on Reader’s Digest’s list of “World’s 10 Best Train Journeys”, and is listed as one of the “Top 10 North American Train Trips” by National Geographic.

Now that is a swag of stunning accolades, with Rocky Mountaineer now also launching its newest and third level of service, SilverLeaf Service [right] on the First Passage to the West route and also began running its bi-level dome cars on the Whistler Sea to Sky Climb for a limited time in the 2012 season.
