Yes, shopping is a serious tourism activity – Westfield gets on board!
Nearly everyone you ask that goes on holiday says that they are going shopping as part of their trip, but while destinations like Singapore and Hong Kong have long hung their tourism hat on shopping, it is only recently that some of the major Australian retailers have recognised they are in the tourism industry, with the charge being led by Westfield.

Showing market leading innovation Westfield Sydney, has really moved into the realm of tourism and entertainment, with retailing now in its rightful place and recognition, as one of the world’s leading tourism activities……..right here in Australia and with Westfield.
Just look at the stores in Westfield Sydney and I think you get the picture: – Bardot, Bose, colette by colette hayman, Diane von Furstenberg, Ella Rouge Beauty, Florsheim, Forcast, Georg Jensen, Ginger & Smart, GUESS, Henleys, Honey Birdette, Hype DC, JB Hi-Fi, Ksubi, Leona Edmiston, Linneys, Little Joe Woman, Lonsdale London, Morrison, Napoleon Perdis, Oxford, PeepToe, RM Williams, Roger David, SABA, Sambag, sass & bide, Secrets Shhh, Seduce, Sheike, Sportscraft, Staccato, SUPRÉ, Thomas Sabo, Tilkah, Uggnat, Via La Moda, Wanted Shoes, and Yd…..now if that’s not serious shopping I don’t know what is!
Westfield’s Donna Meredith told me at ATE that showcasing the latest in international store design, Westfield Sydney incorporates luxury stores, high-street chains and Australian brands presenting their full collections in custom-designed flagship concept stores, with the centre offering shoppers a series of distinct precincts, including Luxury, Urban, Australian and International designers, along with Australian high street shopping……combined with high quality cafes and restaurants – awesome!
