The designing concept of the new look ZEN
The objective of the new design of ZEN is the creation of modern and trendy exterior architecture to reflect ZEN as the most modern shopping mall in Thailand with the use of materials to wrap the building to create shadows of widespread tree branches. As one of the symbols of living, trees illustrate growth and the beginning that is known to people from different places and different cultures. The root of the trees can be seen in several metaphors such as “the tree of life” which means the beginning of life and “family tree” which means the chart displaying family members in order.
The structure of the building is calculated following the rules of geometry and perfectly adapted to the concept of trees making the elements of the tree strong at the root and soft at the top (with the use of woods) similar to the shell covering the entire building illustrating the smart and powerful on the outside to the clear and soft of the mirrors on the new ZEN building. When looking from all 3 sides, the building looks like beautiful-patterned box decorated with diamonds.
The side of the building is decorated with mirrors to make it neat and focuses on the contrast of the steel structure on the outside and the beauty of ZEN building inside, the dense and the bright, and the strength and the softness. 2
Looking from the front entrance, visitors will see the broad view of the department store from every angle. The structure that covers the building is designed to give the fierce and unbeatable look. That is ZEN.
The interior decoration of ZEN “The World-Class Department Store”
ZEN is the world of shopping but, within this big world, there are several hidden small worlds. Each one of them is unique tribe and nationality. This is the variety of the independent planet which has been clearly planned in designing ZEN.
Each department and each floor is unique with its special character, mood & tone, and decoration style reflecting in the color format, materials, ceiling patterns, and the shape of the pillars.
The main colors in each floor will be focused again on the elevator to help separating each floor. Colors are not used only to separate the zone but also simplify the sales floor layout.
For instance, the fashion zone uses raw materials and pale colors to attract the temper and attitude of the new generation.
Another example is the lingerie zone on Level 3 that tries to make all the ladies sexy resulting in the use of leather wall with mirrors, black marble floor, and special light set up.
Meanwhile, the cosmetics and luxury fashion departments use the purple color to improve the charm and importance of the products.
