2013 AFTA NTIA: ‘Biggest and Best Yet!’

Australia’s esteemed travel industry professionals gathered together tonight for the most anticipated event of the year, the 2013 AFTA National Travel Industry Awards (NTIA), and it was a night of victories all-round.

Hailed as ‘the biggest and best yet’, the gala dinner kicked off spectacularly with a surprise performance from Australian singer/songwriter Jessica Mauboy entertaining a record 1200 guests at Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion in Moore Park – and ended with 33 ecstatic winners that went home carrying brand new trophies.

“What a fantastic night,” AFTA Chief Executive, Jayson Westbury said of the gala dinner, “a true testament to the growing strength of the Australian Travel Industry.  There was an incredibly high standard across all nominees, and the selection of finalists and winners really attested to that. I would like to formally congratulate the finalists and everyone involved in making the event such a huge success.  Your contributions to this industry are invaluable!”

“Tonight, the best of the best were recognised for all their hard work in a very competitive, yet dynamic industry and it is incredibly rewarding to see. Their efforts serve as strong reminders that the Australian travel industry is powering forward as travel professionals continuously adapt and innovate with the changing landscape. Well done.”

In addition to Jessica Mauboy’s performance, entertainment for the evening included an unbelievable aerial and acrobatic act, performed by cirque-style entertainment talent Aerial Artistry®. The evening was hosted by Australian actor, author and TV personality, Andrew Daddo.

The winners across all 33 categories were commended and praised for their efforts. “On behalf of AFTA, I would like to thank all our sponsors and award nominees for their participation in the 2013 NTIA. We look forward to your continued support in 2014.” Mr Westbury said.

Guests had the chance to win one of many unbelievable lucky door prizes including a signed Joel Parkinson surfboard donated by the Danii Meads-Barlow Foundation, ‘once-in-a-lifetime’ holiday experiences, accommodation, flights and more.

Qantas is the major sponsor of the 2013 NTIA, providing much valued support in recognising and celebrating our industry’s best.

Following the award night, guests kicked up their heels at the exclusive ‘AFTA’ Party at the Hi Fi, Moore Park, sponsored by Singapore Airlines. Entry to the ‘AFTA Party’ was included with every gala ticket purchased.
