The 2015 Nantou Global Tea Expo, a premium annual event held in Nantou County – Taiwan’s number one tea production area – will kick off in Nantou’s Chung-Hsing New Village, Taiwan, from October 3 to 11, 2015.
The Nantou County government has organized a series of fabulous activities and welcomes tea lovers to visit to purchase, learn about, and savor teas, plus sightseeing, of course. It should be a perfect opportunity for visitors to admire the rich tea culture of Taiwan while in Taiwan.
The day and night expo aims to promote tea culture via several major categories and run in tandem with tourism activities to offer more diversification. Activities include domestic as well as foreign tea culture exhibits, including tea lore performances, tea practitioners fashion show, Taiwanese tea promotion, tea literature exhibit, agricultural product show, International Forum on Tea Culture, and Creativity & Science TAIWAN 2015 (IFTCCS), along with lectures on tea and related daily lifestyles. In addition, a special tea product sales area will be set up to promote all types of tea products. Aside from static exhibitions, there will be dynamic activities such as a tea leaves experience, golden tea tasting, tea ceremony, and one thousand person-tea rolling, as well as tea and musical performances. The tea industry may be old and traditional, however the expo intends to present a brand new look at the tea industry from various perspectives.
Originally launched in 2010, the Nantou Global Tea Expo is entering its sixth anniversary. Each year innovations surface; this year ching tea (oolong tea) has been chosen as the theme. The golden tea tasting activity will still see the tai-chi tea site demonstration performed by Nantou County’s Dongding Oolong Tea Industry Association, although with new elements, such as offering teas from various countries at the tea site, have been added to the performance. The organizer anticipates further promotion of Taiwan tea to the world through creative and knowledgeable ways.
