The applications for the 20th Fiji Excellence in Tourism Awards (FETA) was launched by the Minister for Industry, Trade and Tourism, Honourable Faiyaz Saddiq Koya at the Tanoa International Hotel on Monday, 1 August.
FETA is one of the most prestigious and talked about event in Fiji’s tourism sector, beginning in 1998 and has grown exponentially since then. 2016 will also mark the second year of ANZ sponsorship of the Awards, as the bank was awarded the naming rights sponsor for FETA until 2017 in July last year.
The 2016 Season of the ANZ Fiji Excellence in Tourism Awards will be held on 17 February, 2017.
“As the applications for the 2016 ANZ FETA is being launched, this is an opportunity to give recognition to the business and their staff for the exceptional work undertaken that has made the industry what it is today,” Hon. Koya said while launching the Awards applications.
There are 13 Awards categories for the 2016 Season designed to cover all aspects of the industry.
Hon. Koya added that, “through these Awards we honour the individuals and companies who diligently work to provide our visitors an enjoyable and memorable experience.” Hon. Koya continued that, “these contributions not only benefit their host communities but support the livelihoods of our local people, protect our environment, culture and future of our generations.”
Hon. Koya has strongly urged all stakeholders of the Fijian tourism industry to submit applications for the Awards in the business and individual categories. “Let us not set limits to our capabilities to excel. Let us continue to be positive, develop our abilities and influence those around us to excel and exceed expectations in whatever they do, so together we build our industry, economy and nation, and move it forward.”
The applications for the 20th ANZ FETA close on Friday, 14 October 2016.
FETA’s Chair for the Organising Committee, Ms Olivia Mavoa says that the 2016 Awards Season is expected to attract number of quality applications gauging from the interests shown by the tourism industry stakeholders who have participated in the previous years.
