Marco Polo Hotels’ 2016 Chief Business Manager Conference was successfully conducted this week from 20 – 23 March at the inspiring urban oasis of Marco Polo Changzhou. This year, the annual event followed the theme: “Engage, Empower & Energise to Excel.”
The intensive three-day conference aimed to discuss transformational leadership, new operational standards and unique selling points for each of the 14 Marco Polo hotels, while sharing best practices and the current challenges faced. The conference was held less than two months after Dr. Jennifer Cronin assumed the position as President of Marco Polo Hotels and has provided the road map for the company’s next three-year plan.
Previously called the General Managers Conference, Marco Polo Hotels spearheaded a bold, new business-centred approach. This year, the group focused on guest needs and encouraged general managers – under the auspices of operating as “Chief Business Managers” of their respective hotel – to motivate and empower their employees. This will result in helping to achieve the company’s objectives by appealing to higher ideals and moral values.
“The gathering of all our CBMs to collaborate and share their best practices, as well as challenges faced, has resulted in a positive experience for everyone,” said Dr. Cronin. “The success stories that each of our properties shared will further reinforce this year’s theme of ‘Engage, Empower & Energise to Excel’ that will surely resonate through 2016 and transform our properties into becoming even stronger and more competitive in the industry.”
No gathering of exceptional hoteliers would be complete without the focus on the culinary aspects operating exceptional hotels. A Martini-themed Gala Dinner with awards for the most successful Marco Polo hotel was held and rounded up with the annual RB&E competition, this year selecting the new Marco Polo Signature Iced Tea.
