1460705747862-1The world-renowned skyscraper stair running competition, the 2016 CTBC•TAIPEI 101 Run-Up, will kick off at Taipei 101 on May 1st, 2016.

Ever since Taipei 101 joined the World Federation of Great Towers in 2014, the Taipei 101 Run-Up has been included as a Towerrunning Tour Race hosted by the Tower Running World Association. All outstanding Taiwanese stair racers have the chance to compete with other competitive stair racers from all over the world for rankings. To encourage more Taiwanese runners to participate in this international event, the Taiwan Champions Award was first set up for the 2015 Taipei Run-up. This year, the first male and female finishers from Taiwan will receive the same amount of prize money (NTD38,000) as champions of the competition.

2016 sees CTBC Bank as the title sponsor for the TAIPEI 101 Run-Up, which enabled the race to grow bigger than ever. Of note, the past year Taipei 101 Chairman Joseph Teyu Chou ran for the first time up 2,046 steps over 91 floors to the 390 meter high finish line. Taipei City Mayor Ko Wen-je also joined last year for a 45:54 finish. This year he participated in the race again to try to break his personal record.
