The Bureau of Foreign Trade, MOEA, annually organizes the MEET TAIWAN Awards to drive service and quality improvements of Taiwan’s exhibition industry and to establish superior exhibition standards and models. This year’s fierce competition saw a new record number of participants, with a total of 18 projects that received awards. Winners of the highest honor, the gold awards, for Meeting Category A winners are the Taiwan Proteomics Society and Elite PCO, Meeting Category B winners are Retinitis Pigmentosa Taiwan (RPTW) and Elite PCO, Exhibition Class A winner is Chan Chao Exhibition International, and Exhibition Class B winner is the Taiwan Electrical and Electronic Manufacturer’s Association. Taiwan Tour won the gold for the Business Meeting/Tour Category.

Strict initial evaluations and the final selection process were conducted by 10 experts, and this year’s winners are certainly the best of the best. Winning projects exhibited five traits: green exhibitions, smart technologies, industry upgrades, experience marketing, and cultivating new talent. These projects used various in-depth and different perspective exhibition themes to introduce application technologies (such as RFID) to increase activity efficiency, plus invited international experts to share trends that can assist with industry upgrades, implement environmentally friendly measures, and reduce carbon footprints, along with the integration of local characteristics or social welfare and other diverse activities to create unique experiences for event participants.

All winning vendors not only received trophies and a certificate, they also receive award money, domestic/international promotions, and marketing campaigns. The MEET TAIWAN Award consists of five award categories: Class A and B Meetings, Class A and B Exhibitions, and Business Meetings/Tours. Each category has gold, silver, and bronze winners. In addition, those that have made special contributions to the national economy and trade, social welfare, environmental sustainability, and/or international promotions were given a Judging Panel Special Award.

The 2017 MEET TAIWAN Award ceremony was held at noon on September 6 at the Kaohsiung Exhibition Center. Important international exhibition experts, such as distinguished guests from the International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE) and Asian Federation of Exhibition and Convention Associations (AFECA), were invited to witness and celebrate the achievements of Taiwan’s exhibition industry.
