The Airports Council International – Latin America & Caribbean (ACI-LAC) Annual Assembly and Conference 2018 is taking place this week in Miami from November 12 – 14, 2018, at the JW Marriott Marquis. gathering – the most important airport and aviation event in the region – is hosted by the Miami-Dade Aviation Department, which operates Miami International Airport (MIA), one of the most important airports in the United States and in the world.

The ACI-LAC Conference is regarded as one of the most relevant events within the aviation and airport industry, and serves as an annual gathering for major airport operators, government representatives, service providers and other industry stakeholders from throughout Latin America and the Caribbean. Over 400 delegates are attending this exclusive opportunity to network with key airport decision makers and to learn about the current and prospective state of the industry. The 2018 Conference features a full three-day agenda , including an Airport Excellence Workshop, and sessions on the State of the Industry, Creating Fertile Grounds for Airport Investment, Expanding Airports and Creating Memorable Experiences for Passengers, Balancing Passenger Growth with Customer Experience, Future of Air Travel Journey in a Digital Airport Transformation, and Air Cargo a Key Economic Driver, as well as a live interview with UBER and the always anticipated Aviation CEO Panel.

“We are very happy to have landed for the first time ever in Miami for this unique airport conference,” said ACI-LAC Director General Javier Martinez. “The highly-anticipated conference, which brings together top senior airport and industry executives to discuss and review the region’s key issues, was sold out three weeks in advance.”

Held annually in different destinations throughout Latin America and the Caribbean, organizers overwhelmingly agreed that Miami is the perfect location for the year’s momentous conference given the city’s consolidation as an international hub for business with convenient access to Latin American and Caribbean markets. Most notably, MIA stands tall as the primary airport in the U.S. for passenger and cargo traffic in the region. It also serves more flights to the Americas than any other U.S. airport and ranks as America’s third busiest airport for international passengers.

“As home to the gateway of the Americas, serving 79 percent of all passengers between the U.S. and the Latin America and Caribbean region, Miami-Dade County is proud to host the 2018 ACI-LAC Conference,” said Lester Sola, Miami-Dade Aviation Department Director and CEO. “In a year when MIA celebrates its 90th anniversary, it seems fitting that we would serve as the host airport this year as well.”
