The 4th Global Entrepreneurship Summit 2013 Kuala Lumpur (4th GES 2013 Kuala Lumpur) has put Malaysia on the world entrepreneurs stage with US Secretary of State John Kerry leading the US delegation and delivering the special address at the opening of the summit on 11 October 2013.

The two-day summit will bring together luminaries from the entrepreneur ecosystem including entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, angel investors and thought leaders under a single roof, the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center. Among some of the stellar list of presenters include Rich Barton, co-founder of Expedia and co-founder and Executive Chairman Zillow, Uli Fricke, founder of Triangle Ventures, Prof Chan Kim, author of Blue Ocean Strategy, Don Tapscott author of Wikinomics and as well as Tan Sri Tony Fernandes, founder of the Tune group of companies and Mark Chang, founder of Jobstreet.com.

According to the Chairperson of the Organising Committee for the summit, Tan Sri Mohd Irwan Serigar Abdullah, Secretary General of the Treasury at the Ministry of Finance, there will be more than 100 speakers representing over 90 organizations from more than 26 countries speaking at this years’ summit. “We are very fortunate to not only have the presence of such well known speakers but also world leaders and prominent global business personalities. We promise to make this years event the best ever,” he said

“Apart from the Summit Program there are a total of 7 side events, 15 satellite events and 1 partner event. These events are related to the overall theme of the GES which is “Empowering and Connecting Entrepreneurs” and will cater to specific target groups to continue efforts to develop the local entrepreneur ecosystem which will sustain the momentum of the summit.”

“An important side event of this year’s summit is the 1Malaysia Entrepreneurship (1MeT) initiative where we will train entrepreneurs from all segments of society to successfully start and grow their own businesses. The government needs to ensure that everyone has a chance to become an entrepreneur regardless of his or her background. This is how the government sees its role as a catalyst for nation building,” Tan Sri Irwan  added.
