56 Years Later & Still Expanding – Launch Set To Wow Manila Diners!

COCA Restaurant announced yesterday that 56 years later we are still here and still growing. COCA Restaurant in Manila the first in the Philippines and sister restaurant to the already famed Mango Tree is set to open its doors on July 30th in Manila’s fast and ever  growing F&B sector at the SM Aura in BGC.
A blend of Thai- Chinese and modern decors, food presentations and its warm ambiences the group is known for in creating in the F&B scene in Manila, COCA Restaurant offers tradition recipe Thai – Chinese Cuisine, some Thai favorites and its signature hotpot that is what COCA became famous for throughout Asia in the 90’s. COCA’s signature suki sauce is what sets it apart from other hotpot concepts along with its philosophy to ensure the freshest ingredients are used and now adopting the philosophy of farm to restaurant concept.

My parents immigrated from China to Thailand in the 40’s bringing with them recipes from Guandong say second generation CEO Pitaya Phanphensophon. Living in Thailand and having a variety of fresh ingredients available my mother’s cuisine evolved to what it is today. Simple put its Cantonese with a Thai influence. What does that mean? Well Thai cooking we use a lot of garlic chili coriander and some fresh herbs. These have been blended with traditional Cantonese recipes to bring you what COCA has to offer.COCA Restaurant started in Bangkok Thailand in 1957 and now has over 35 outlets throughout Southeast Asia and now looking to expand westward into India later this year.

COCA Restaurant has usually been known for its signature hotpot and famous suki sauce comments group managing Director Trevor MacKenzie, however over the last 6 years we have been re-structuring our menus to have more a la carte offerings that you would find at our Surawong and Siam Square locations in Bangkok. This is now allowing us to move westward in our expansion as typically when we move out of SE ASIA most people don’t eat hotpot. I would say since our revamp many of our outlets experience a 50-50 split between a la carte and hotpot.

Trevor further comments they are now working on other new ideas to make the concept more Western country friendly but says it’s better to wow you when we are ready to launch it.

Whether you are in the mood for Thai, Chinese or hotpot COCA restaurants, aims to please with fresh fish tanks with the daily catch, live prawns, crabs and lobsters. The room has an interesting tea chill out are in the front entrance by the bar, to semi private salas through the center and 2 circular tables at the back of the restaurant for those seeking a bit more privacy. They have a private VIP for family and corporate bookings.

This is also one of the first outlets to have booth seating for diners as well. “We noticed that eating at COCA restaurant is a more private affair whether with friends family of business associates much the same as a Chinese restaurant so we wanted o something a bit different and offer guests that feeling as they dine in our outlets states Eric Teng, MD of Mother Spic the Franchise owner of COCA Restaurants in Philippines
