Spirit of Tasmania has introduced a special $60 Day Ticket to encourage travellers with a caravan, motorhome or campervan to embark on a day sailing in 2016/17.

The company will operate 138 day sailings in 2016/17, with the addition of day sailings every Saturday from mid-September 2016 until after Easter 2017.

The $60 Day Tickets for adults and pensioners ($35 for children) will be available on day sailings between 17 September and 19 December 2016, and between 21 January and 13 May 2017.

To qualify, travel must be booked between 1 May and 30 June 2016.

TT-Line chief executive officer Bernard Dwyer said caravans and motorhomes continued to be very popular on Spirit of Tasmania vessels.

“This is demonstrated by the fact that year-to-date caravan numbers are up 17 per cent and motorhome numbers are up 15 per cent compared to the same time last year,” he said.

“Our day sailing strategy has been very successful following the refurbishment of the vessels. We are carrying more people on day sailings compared to the same time last year.

“There are currently 54 additional Saturday day sailings scheduled for 2016/17 compared to last financial year to assist record demand for space.

“We want to encourage passengers travelling with caravans or motorhomes or campervans to travel by day.

“It continues to be important that passengers wanting to travel with a vehicle be flexible with their travel dates and visit the website regularly to see what is available.

“And we would also remind passengers to book their return sailing at the same time as the forward sailing to increase the chance of finding vehicle space availability.”
