Luxury TravelLuxury Trends:
The luxury travel segment is a huge opportunity for Vietnam together with the development of other industries and the opening of the market economy.

The market for luxury travel is expanding and Vietnam has many tourism resources which are ideal for the luxury and ultra-luxury markets, but these are yet to be exploited. These will bring enormous benefits to the country.

  1. Customisation:
Moving beyond the ‘one size fits all’ itinerary, travellers can now have a bespoke itinerary catering to their needs. Many high-end hotels, for instance, have a programme to identify VIP guests so that when they make a return visit, their preferences have been noted, such as having their preferred newspaper waiting at the breakfast table.unnamed (30)2. Experiential Travel:
Travel should be personalized with luxury travel advisors creating experiences that are tailored to personal desires along with truly special options that reflect the destination. Luxury travel is no longer just about fine dining and five-star hotels.

    3. Multi-Generational Family Travel:

In the current fragile economy, people tend to go back to family values and enjoy holidays together. For them, life is a collection of special moments and family reunions. Geographically, families live farther away from each other than at any time in history, and retired people, with time, health and disposable income on their hands, love to take the kids and grandkids along on holiday.

    4. Wellness and Spa:
Vietnam has followed the lead of Thailand and begun embracing spa culture with a wide selection of resorts and day spas that are the equal to any in the world. Spa vacationers now choose Vietnam for various wellness and spa options, such as the beach spas at Nam Hai, Hoi An and the Fusion Maia Danang, the family spa at Six Senses Nha Trang, day spas in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, and the destination spas at the Six Sense Con Dao and the Amano’I near Nha Trang.

    5. Adventure Travel:unnamed (31)

Travelers are seeking out ways to stay active and healthy on the road. They want to go to places where they have plenty of options for day trips and activities in Vietnam. The thrills offered are endless and span a wide range from traditional hiking, biking, scuba diving and kayaking to climbing, rafting, hot air ballooning, yachting and more.

    6. River and Ocean Cruises:
River and ocean cruising has increased dramatically in popularity the world over and Vietnam has not been left behind. River cruise from Saigon to Siem Reap becomes popular. Now, to stand out it is important to offer something different, and up and coming super-luxury boats will soon be available, especially on Halong Bay, for travellers who expect the best.

  1. Seeking Out What’s New:
High-end travelers always want new and exotic experiences, plus value, both in terms of personal value and value for money. They seek new destinations, new hotels and new experiences. They want to be the first to discover a destination. Many have moved towards a quieter understated luxury and plan their trips with a focus on authenticity and experiential travel, particularly enriching once-in-a-lifetime experiences. For travel experts, it is essentially about creating a package that is personal as well as authentic and memorable.

    in the near future
Travellers are becoming more sophisticated in general and don’t just want to ‘fly and flop’, but discover the country through experiential travel. They aren’t merely buying a destination anymore, they are seeking engagement. Terms such as “authentic”, “transformational experiences”, “meaningful connections” and so on, are populating travel companies brochures and websites.
