Zinc | InVision Hospitality is pleased to announce that Jetwing Vil Uyana a Zinc Journey walked away with the Environment Award at the recent 2014 Tourism for Tomorrow Awards organized by the World Travel & Tourism Council and held in Hainan, China.
The win is historic to say the least. The unique eco-luxury resort is the flagship property of Sri Lanka’s premier hospitality brand Jetwing and is the first Sri Lankan property to win at this prestigious ceremony, beating tough competition in the form of Great Plains Conservation and Skyrail Rainforest Cableway

The WTTC Tourism for Tomorrow Awards is one of the world’s highest accolades in the Travel & Tourism industry. It is aimed at recognizing best practice in sustainable tourism within the industry worldwide, and each year receives hundreds of applications from all over the world.

Jetwing Vil Uyana a Zinc Journey  is now in its 8th year of operation, and is no stranger to the international limelight – being listed by National Geographic in 2013 as one of the ‘Best Eco-lodges of the World’. Originally a barren and unused plot of land a few kilometers from the ancient rock fortress of Sigiriya, the property now features 30 stunning dwellings in five distinct categories: Water, Paddy, Forest, Marsh and Garden. Under the skillful hand of renowned eco-architect Sunela Jayawardene, the grounds have now become home to many species of flora and fauna, including 80 species of birds, 17 species of mammals, 36 species of butterflies and 21 species of amphibians now residing within the natural grounds. The VIP guest is the endangered Grey Slender Loris – which is now a full time resident with a growing population in a separate habitat and conservation area; the first in the country.

Zinc Journey continues to develop unique and experiential properties across Asia that focus on local culture — art, architecture, cuisine and textiles. Additional locations coming in 2014 and early 2015 include Chitwan, Nepal; Rajasthan, India and Lijinag, China. By following the path of Zinc Journey, owners and developers alike can gain market share and global recognition that is desired.
