A History Like No Other – Connie’s Cottage at The Siam

June 19, 2017 Hotel Deals No Comments Email Email

The sprawling grounds of Bangkok’s incredible The Siam hotel hold a unique, little known history. Four teak structures on the premises of The Siam hotel date back at least 150 years. Three of which make up the hotel’s Thai restaurant Chon; the other is the signature suite, Connie’s Cottage.

All four houses once belonged to Connie Mangskau, famous Thai Socialite and silk legend Jim Thompson’s confidante. Each house, at least a century old when bought, had to be dismantled, transported down the Chaopraya River and reassembled in its original location on Sukhumvit Road. It was often the scene of Connie’s legendary parties which saw the likes of Jacqueline Kennedy and William Holden in attendance.

Today it has been totally refurbished and equipped with the finest modern comforts whilst retaining its distinctive charm. The two-level cottage features a four-poster Thai King bed, an en-suite bathroom and a private outdoor balcony overlooking the largest private pool on the property.

Indulge and explore The Siam with a special Stay 3 Pay 2 package, allowing guests to spend more time at the hotel and appreciate its hidden corners at no added cost.

The package includes daily breakfast for two in the Deco Bar & Bistro, Butler Service, THB1,000++ credit per room for massage therapy at Opium Spa, Complimentary WIFI and the chance to explore Bangkok by water with a private cruise between the hotel and the cities central Sathorn Pier.
