As the sun set over Sydney, over 300 VIP guests arrived at the stylish Café Del Mar for an evening of entertainment, spring inspired canapés and drinks. A live twitter competition which ran throughout the evening asked guests to describe in less than 140 words their ideal 24 hours in LA for a chance to win United Airlines BusinessFirst ticket to Los Angeles. Lucky attendee, Carlie Platt of Nudie Australia walked away with the winning ticket for her entry, “Re-UNITE with old friends, relax in Malibu, shoot a hoop in Venice, dine at Chateau Marmont & fly back in style @sydneykings #unitedhoops.”

Alison Espley, United’s Director for Australia and New Zealand said: “Last night’s event was a fantastic way to kick off the season and celebrate our ongoing partnership with the Sydney Kings Basketball team.

We’re particularly excited about the start of this season, which coincides with United’s upcoming launch of a new route between Melbourne-Los Angeles, the hub of NBA.

It’s fantastic to see the basketball culture growing in Australia.  Let’s hope with everyone’s support the Kings can bring the NBL Championship Trophy home in 2015.”

The partnership will continue over the 2014-2015 NBL season. Throughout the season there will be several opportunities for consumers to win giveaways through attending games, the Kings’ social media and media networks. Sydney Kings’ first home game will be on October 11 at the Sydney Entertainment Centre.
