A Return to 1970s Glamour with a Black and Gold Collection of Evening Wear

Marie France Van Damme, the Hong Kong–based designer known for her globally-influenced line of luxury resort, swim and ready-to-wear, announces the launch of MFVD Glamour, a 16-piece evening wear capsule collection to debut in the brand’s first U.S. boutique, located within the Peninsula Beverly Hills hotel in Los Angeles.

Made for L.A. and the contemporary California lifestyle, from red carpet to pool to cocktail, the MFVD Glamour collection will be available as of February 2018 in time for the 90th Annual Academy Awards. The collection will first be available exclusively in L.A., then also at her other city stores and online.

Designed for evening in a striking color palette of metallic gold and black, MFVD Glamour is an elegant and feminine collection inspired by 1970s New York nightlife, Studio 54 and the Hollywood jet set. The collection consists of 16 pieces ($630 to $2,500 USD), including the debut of a metallic lamé turban and French lace gloves. Sophisticated black and gold dresses, vaporous cover-ups, lace negligees, and delicate French lace dresses provide the perfect evening style. Signature Marie France Van Damme pieces, such as the Boubou caftan, offer instant glamour. Make a statement with a chic racerback dress, crafted in soft, slightly-crinkled silk chiffon with luxurious jacquard rose details.

From a red carpet event to a resort holiday, the MFVD Glamour collection provides the perfect Marie France Van Damme mix-and-match evening wardrobe, with hand embroidery and opulent fabrics such as French lace, metallic-toned Italian weaves, and featherweight Chinese silks.

Marie France recalls one evening in 1979 in New York. “A girlfriend invited me to her uncle’s informal Sunday night dinner gathering at his favorite restaurant, Chez Laurent. I was seated next to her uncle, who happened to be Salvador Dalí, and two seats down were Andy Warhol and Potassa de la Fayette, a famous model of the ’70s, among other beautiful women and men. These people were not only  spectacular-looking in their own ways, but the conversations were fascinating, captivating. It was a glamourous and memorable evening. Glamour is not about the dress and the jewels. It’s not a style. Glamour must seem effortless and have some mystery” says Marie France Van Damme.

As Marie France Van Damme only introduces limited productions of her collections each season, each store in itself is unique. The new Glamour collection will debut in Los Angeles with pieces you won’t find anywhere else. Whether it’s evening wear or day dress, a silk caftan or city pajama, swimwear, or sweaters, Marie France Van Damme’s philosophy remains the same: “What you wear should always give you glamour. Glamour without the fuss and bother,” says Marie France Van Damme.

Made in Hong Kong & South China
