Guests at The Peninsula Beverly Hills can now enjoy a fascinating new collection of Peninsula Academy tours designed to showcase the best of Californian lifestyle and culture.

On Escape to Xanadu: Malibu Surf, Sand and Sun, guests spend the day at one of Malibu’s iconic ocean-front residences – Xanadu – once owned by Olivia Newton-John. A three course al fresco lunch overlooking the Malibu shoreline is followed by an afternoon of kayaking, swimming and private surfing and paddleboard lessons from Rod Samper, who has instructed many Hollywood stars. Guests enjoy exclusive access to Xanadu’s oceanfront guest house where a Peninsula Page is on hand to take care of their needs.

Movie buffs can experience the colour and excitement of Hollywood with Behind the Scenes at a Major Studio: A Private Tour of Warner Bros. This exclusive experience looks into the workings of the world’s busiest motion picture and television studio, with opportunities to walk on to the set of a hit television show, watch as Foley artists create sound effects, see how sets are constructed, view over 10 million items in the prop department and see vehicles from film and television up close. This tour includes a Peninsula picnic at Los Angeles’ famous Griffith Park.

Fly Away to Malibu Wine Country: A Helicopter Tour, Wine Tasting and Lunch takes guests by helicopter to the 1,000-acre Malibu Family Wines Estate in Malibu Canyon for a private tasting of their award-winning Semmler and Saddlerock wines, followed by a gourmet picnic lunch served by a Peninsula Page. On the round-trip helicopter ride, guests will enjoy a bird’s eye view of downtown Los Angeles and the dramatic Pacific coastline.

An up-close tour of the city’s most iconic buildings is on offer with From Movie Palaces to Disney Hall: Historic Buildings of Los Angeles. In the expert company of architectural historian Laura Massino Smith, guests explore L.A.’s old downtown movie palaces; the historic Bradbury Building and Walt Disney Concert Hall; the Frank Gehry-designed home of the Los Angeles Philharmonic; the Los Angeles City Hall; the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels; and a famous Frank Lloyd Wright house. The tour includes a Peninsula picnic in Grand Park.

The Peninsula Academy is a learning and activity programme created to give guests an insider introduction to key aspects of culture, lifestyle, cuisine, arts and history at the Peninsula hotels worldwide.
