A Taste of Oman and a Dash of Extreme Sailing by Sydney Harbour

In a landmark pavilion on the water’s edge in the Royal Botanical Gardens, Oman Tourism welcomed visitors with dates, frankincense and traditional henna designs being applied by an artisan flown in from Oman especially for the event.

Adding colour and vibrancy by involving the Sydney Omani student community and the sailing teams from Oman sail – the organisation behind the Extreme Sailing crews from Oman Air and The Wave Muscat – the pavilion buzzed with the energy of the liveliest Omani souq. All weekend passers-by, guests and even aspiring travel writers dropped in to learn more about the Sultanate from the people who know it best – the locals.

In a heart-stopping final race of the entire Extreme Sailing 2015 season with double points and the championship on the line, the crew from The Wave Muscat proved to be too good, taking the Extreme Sailing title for an historic 3rd time.
