A Very Popular Parade (Of Cakes): Brunch At The Plaza Athénée
Brunch. A convivial and particularly mouthwatering moment which the staff at the Plaza Athénée has decided to turn into a veritable fashion parade of sweet and savoury delights. Begin with the famous home-made pastries (flaky chocolate and pistachio bun, walnut and lemon croissant, sugar tart, Breton kouign-amann, chocolate or raspberry brioche, and last but by no means least the kouglof from Alsace) to accompany your hot chocolate, tea or coffee, with a yoghurt, honey, marmalades and fresh fruit juice.
What’s next? A glass of champagne delicately leads the way to the following course while a bite-sized nibble awakens your tastebuds before you select your favourite egg dish – fresh Boiled Egg, Eggs Benedictine or softboiled Eggs Cardinal with a slice of lobster. Finally, you can choose a main course from among the Carpaccio of Bass Marinated in Cédric Casanova Oil, Rocket, Green Asparagus from Le Pertuis or a few thin Slices of Breton Artichoke, Lambs’ Lettuce and Black Truffle.
After the selection of three mature cheeses accompanied by grapes, the desserts parade onto the table – choux pastry with salt butter caramel, French toast to share, a bowl of diced fresh fruit, a selection of verrines etc. What more could a gourmet hope for!
Haute couture brunch is served daily except Thursdays and Fridays, from 11am to 1.45pm.
