Decades ago, lucky children were invited on a brief trip of the cockpit if the captain of their flight felt like it. That era has passed, but now Emirates, the world’s largest operator of the Airbus A380, has released the world’s first 360-degree video tour of the A380 cockpit, which is the next-best thing to actually being in there.
Watch Captain Thomas Ziarno from New Zealand and First Officer Abdulrahman Mohamed Al Busaeedi from the United Arab Emirates give an immersive 360-view tour of the flight deck controls of an Emirates A380, the world’s largest commercial aircraft.
To enjoy the 360-video experience, move your mobile device or navigate with your touchscreen. If you are using a desktop, click and drag the video to view from any angle.
In another milestone for the Emirates A380 fleet, the airline will be taking delivery of its 80th A380 on 21 June 2016. This will be followed by the launch of a daily A380 service to Vienna, Emirates’ 41st A380 destination, starting 1st July 2016. Emirates has a further 62 A380s pending delivery, of which 21 A380s will join the fleet this year.
Emirates operates one of the youngest fleets in the industry with an average age of 5.6 years. Over 4000 pilots from nearly 100 nationalities fly the Emirates fleet of 250 all wide-body aircraft that serve 155 destinations across 81 countries.
Emirates has over 1400 pilots on its A380 fleet and more than 2500 pilots on the Boeing 777 fleet. The airline is hiring over 700 pilots in 2016 to operate its expanding fleet and will be holding multiple recruitment events across the globe to support pilot recruitment.
