Airline for America (A4A), the industry trade organization for the leading U.S. airlines, issued the following statement commending House Border and Maritime Security Subcommittee Chairman Candice Miller (R-MI) and Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez (D-CA),

as well as House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Michael McCaul (R-TX), Ranking Member Bennie Thompson (D-MS), Subcommittee Ranking Member Sheila Jackson-Lee (D-TX) and past Committee Chairman Peter King (R-NY) for their efforts to support an effective exit system, while maintaining efficiency for airline passengers.

A4A and our member airlines support the goals of a viable, comprehensive and effective mandatory exit program and recognize that this can be implemented without needlessly increasing security lines that inconvenience the traveling public.

“We commend the House Homeland Security Committee for introducing a plan that achieves its security objectives and recognizes the importance of aviation to our economy by seeking to mitigate the impact and the potential for delays on the flying public,” said A4A President and CEO Nicholas E. Calio. “We appreciate the efforts of Chairmen Miller and McCaul, Ranking Members Thompson and Jackson-Lee and Representatives King and Sanchez for their bipartisan efforts to put forward an effective exit program that minimizes disruption and delay for traveling Americans.”
