A suggested malaria free itinerary, designed specifically with families in mind, and including a host of spectacular and unforgettable experiences, is this 11 day journey starting in Cape Town and ending in Johannesburg.  Families are greeted as soon as they step off the plane in Cape Town by an Aardvark Safaris guide, who will assist to ensure the journey through the airport quick and easy, and transport them to their accommodation. The Welgelegen Guesthouse, where the family will stay for four days, is the perfect bed and breakfast in Cape Town with an excellent location to enjoy the best of the city, from exploring the Cape Peninsula. It’s just ten minute drive from the cable car to the top of Table Mountain – a Cape Town must!

The following three nights will be spent on a full board basis at the Madikwe Safari Lodge in Johannesburg, renowned for spectacular food. The malaria free Madikwe Safari Lodge is situated north east of the Madikwe Game Reserve, one of South Africa’s biggest wildlife sanctuaries. Madikwe has a diverse geology and mixture of habitats, allowing for a wide range of wildlife to flourish including the Big Five, cheetah and wild dog, and for children and adults to make truly educational memories. The activities here include game drives, bush orientation, bug CSI and dung tracking, to name a few.

On day eight, the family is driven to Ant’s Nest, another malaria free zone and rated one of the best full board family destinations in South Africa with opportunities to see zebra, sable and buffalo. The incredibly relaxed and homely lodge hosts a brilliant selection of horses and ponies for skilled and novice riders to enjoy, accompanied by an expert guide along the way. The camp also has specialised kids ‘spoor’ and ‘bug’ educational walks as well as a 15 meter swimming pool where guests can relax during the day, surrounded by a lawn and rolling hills. Ants Nest provides all types of activities and guests have the ultimate flexibility to choose their preferred activities from horseback game viewing to game drives as well as bush breakfasts, lunches under shady trees and suppers around open fires.
