Earlier this year, Tasmania was devastated with massive fires that burned more than 200,000 hectares of bush, the largest fires in Tasmania since 1967. With several homes lost, arguably the most likely to be affected by the fires now, and into the future are the farmers that rely on the land to support themselves and their families.

AAT Kings recently headed down to Tasmania to donate $1,000 to Rural Alive & Well Inc in support of the farmers affected by the recent fires. RAW (Rural Alive & Well Inc.) is a non for-profit organisation helping individuals, families and the community through mental health issues with a focus on suicide prevention. They provide outreach support to rural Tasmania, as well as working with the community to undertake well-being initiatives.

General Manager, Guided Holidays & Inspiring Journeys – Jody Grossfeldt commented: “Tasmania is one of Australia’s most beautiful regions, and one that is important to our business and will continue to be so. We understand that the upcoming year will be hard for the communities affected by the fires. Whilst none of the destinations we visit were directly affected by the fires, it is a business priority at AAT Kings to ensure we’re giving back and sustaining every place we go and supporting our rural and regional tourist economy. Our industry has a real role to play to assist these communities that give so much to us.”
