Academy Sofitel Recognised For Its Training Restaurant, The Academy Pantry

Academy Sofitel has been recognised at the Savour Australia Restaurant & Catering Hostplus 2013 Victorian Awards For Excellence, with its training restaurant, The Academy Pantry, being named Best Restaurant in a Training Institute.

Academy Sofitel, which is run in partnership with Victoria University, prides itself on being a training school for culinary excellence. It offers students the unique experience of undertaking practical and theoretical study within a 5 star luxury hotel.

The Academy Pantry is a purpose built training restaurant that offers an unparalleled and FIS-250x250affordable dining experience. It features a 50 seat main dining room and a 12 seat Chef’s Table dining area located within the kitchen.

Academy Sofitel students, who are studying their Certificate 3 in Hospitality Commercial Cookery while undertaking apprenticeships at some of Victoria’s leading restaurants, fine tune

their restaurant skills in The Academy Pantry in preparation for careers in the luxury hospitality industry. Academy Sofitel Chef de Cuisine, Lee Atkinson said the award was a wonderful recognition of the hard work, commitment and skill of The Academy Pantry team.

“As we strive to be the bench mark in hospitality training, awards like this would not be possible without the dedication and passion of our staff and students,’’ Mr Atkinson said.

Established to improve the quality of training to meet the needs of industry, Academy Sofitel has been nurturing the next generation’s leaders in hospitality management and commercial cookery for more than a decade.
