The Accommodation Association of Australia welcomes the announcement that the N.S.W. State Government will be bringing American College Football to Sydney.

On Saturday 27 August, 2016 the University of California will play against the University of Hawaii in the opening round of the 2016 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division One College Football Championships at ANZ Stadium. Bringing with them are 15,000 domestic and international visitors to Sydney who will provide a boost to the local tourism industry.
“The Accommodation Association congratulates the NSW State Government for securing this major event and is looking forward to the estimated $10 million boost to the NSW economy,” said Richard Munro, Chief Executive Officer of the Accommodation Association.
“American football is ingrained in the American culture and the allegiance of fans that are expected to attend the match provides Sydney the opportunity to showcase itself as a destination for world class sporting events.”
“Accommodation providers in the Sydney Olympic Park precinct, where the opening match is being held, will also benefit from the influx of fans from across Australia and the US that will be visiting and staying in the area.”
“For those fans back home in the United States who are unable to attend the opening match in person, the broadcast of the game will allow viewers to experience the beauty and culture of Sydney from the comfort of their own home.”
