Accor has kicked off the second year of its National Rugby League (NRL) partnership with the announcement that the NSW VB Blues State of Origin team will be based at Novotel Pacific Bay Resort in Coffs Harbour for Games One and Three.

In 2013, Accor was announced as the exclusive accommodation partner of the NRL for two seasons, 2013 and 2014.

Under the agreement, the Australian Rugby League Commission (ARLC) and NRL executives, as well as all 16 NRL clubs will be accommodated at Accor hotels across Australia and New Zealand.  In addition, Accor will hold the status of preferred hotel accommodation provider for supporters of the NRL and any other associated events.

Simon McGrath, Accor Pacific Chief Operating Officer said, “The first year of partnership with the NRL has proven to be an outstanding one. With 12,000 employees across Accor’s portfolio of over 200 hotels all over Australia, we have demonstrated our capabilities to meet the specific accommodation requirements, including location as well as team meeting room space, of the NRL and its clubs. A good number of our hotels across different states are strategically located near stadia where games are played, making away games an ease for both players and fans.”

“We welcome the news that the NRL has just announced an investment of more than $200 million in the development of Rugby League over four years.”

“NRL Chief Executive David Smith and his Executive Team have displayed tremendous leadership as seen in the record results of the 2013 financial year and we are confident that with this investment push, the NRL will be in the strongest and healthiest position that it has ever been.”

“Accor is proud to be a key partner in the growth of the NRL and we look forward to the second year of our partnership with the NRL.”

The NRL partnership in the 2013/14 season saw Accor generate over 8,000 room nights nationally, of which almost half were delivered into Accor NSW hotels.  This partnership was also leveraged through engagement with associated NRL events such as ‘Women in League’ and the ‘Festival of Indigenous Rugby League’, which closely align to related diversity programs in Accor.
