Accor Movers and Shakers – New General Manager Appointments

Tom Cykowski has been appointed General Manager at ibis Styles East Perth. Since he relocated from the United Kingdom in 2009, Tom has held the role of General Manager at hotels across Western Australia.

Prior to his current role, Tom opened the brand new $25 million Discovery Rottnest Island Resort and Pinky’s Beach Bar as General Manager-Development. He was involved from concept to design and completion of this project. In the past, Tom worked as the Chief Operating Officer at Ramada Eco Beach in Broome and General Manager at Fitzroy River Lodge.

 Dougal McConnell has been appointed General Manager at Mantra Charles Hotel in Launceston, Tasmania. Dougal has worked across various hotels within Accor for over 19 years. He has been the General Manager of The Sebel Mandurah, Novotel Forest Resort Creswick, The Sebel Launceston and ibis Styles Alice Springs. His skills in regional hotel operations as well as his previous experience at major Melbourne and Sydney CBD properties stand him in good stead for his new role.

Silvester Toth has been appointed General Manager at ibis Styles Kalgoorlie. Silvester started his hospitality journey in the Food and Beverage department at the Heritage Hotel in Queenstown, New Zealand. He spent five years in Dubai and Abu-Dhabi working for Marriott and Hilton in senior positions within the Food and Beverage division. For the last two years Silvester worked for Naumi Hotels in Auckland and Wellington as Operations Manager and Resident Manager.

Edmond Power has been appointed General Manager at Novotel Newcastle Beach. Prior to this, Edmond spent four years in the role of Franchise Operations Manager for the Northern Territory, Queensland and Western Australia.  He has been instrumental in integrating several new hotels into Accor’s network and is the National Chair of Accor’s Inclusion & Diversity Committee.  Prior to his current role, Edmond had spent close to a decade in Operational and Talent & Culture Leadership roles at Accor, in various locations throughout Australia.
