AccorHotels present their largest portfolio of brands ever at IMM 2019, having enlarged their Pacific portfolio by a third, acquiring the Mantra Group of properties in 2018, expanding the network by 138 hotels and 20,000 guestrooms, with the addition of Art Series, Peppers, Mantra, and BreakFree branded properties across Australia, New Zealand, Hawaii and Indonesia.

This strategic acquisition takes AccorHotels’ network tally to over 330 hotels and resorts across the Pacific region. These brands will be consolidated under our existing portfolio of brands which have such a strong resonance with the Australian public and maintaining this level of recognition while continuing to innovate is a key priority for us going into 2019.

THE FANTAUZZO TO OPEN AT HOWARD SMITH WHARVES, BRISBANE FROM MARCH 2019: Art Series Hotels’ eighth property at Howard Smith Wharves, Brisbane will be named after acclaimed Australian painter Vincent Fantauzzo and is scheduled to open in March 2019. Renowned for his portraits of notable people including Heath Ledger, Matt Moran, Brandon Walters and Julia Gillard, he has won the Doug Moran National Portrait Prize, the Archibald Packing Room Prize, and the Archibald People’s Choice Award four times, including in 2012 for his portrait of now-wife, actress Asher Keddie. Carved into the cliff under Story Bridge, the $100 million luxury hotel will feature 166 guest rooms, with custom contemporary furnishings, featuring both original artworks and up to 500 reproductions of Fantauzzo’s most recognised works. MAJOR REFURBISHMENTS & NEW PRODUCT

MAJOR REJUVENATION UNDERWAY AT SOFITEL FIJI RESORT AND SPA: Situated on Denarau Island Fiji, Sofitel Fiji Resort & Spa is in the midst of a multi-million dollar refurbishment project including expansion plans for the resort’s exclusive adults-only, Waitui Beach Club. NEW CONVENTION CENTRE AT NOVOTEL TWIN WATERS RESORT: Following its $100 million purchase of the Novotel Twin Waters Resort in September 2018, The Shakespeare property group has announced a new, purpose-built convention centre build at the resort. The $8 million Convention Centre will be the destination’s pre-eminent event venue when it opens in April 2019. Shakespeare Property Group are planning to invest a total of $10 million dollars in further upgrades to the resort and Convention Centre at the resort over the next couple of years.

MAJOR RENOVATION COMPLETE AT NOVOTEL GEELONG: A $3.5 million refurbishment has been completed at Novotel Geelong, its first major renovation project since opening in 2001.
