The Association of Corporate Travel Executives has conferred its highest honor on Chris Crowley, Senior Vice President, Global Client Team EMEA at BCD Travel.

Described as “a visionary, a motivator, and a natural leader,” Crowley received ACTE’s Presidents Award at a packed general session of the group’s recent Global Travel Conference, in Barcelona.

“Chris Crowley has become something of a legend in business travel circles,” said ACTE President Suzanne Neufang. “He joined ACTE in 2001 and has attended every global conference since then, very often serving with distinction as a voice on the conference planning committee.

“Chris has also been a leader with presence on various other committees, including the Nominating Committee, and first took his place on the ACTE Board of Directors in 2005. He returned to the board 5 years later when he was named ACTE President in 2010, and introduced several ambitious programs that have made ACTE what it is today,” said Neufang. “These include the first evolution of our acclaimed educational program — Around the World in 80 Hours — and the initial concept of the ACTEcelerator program.”

Suzanne Neufang also noted that Crowley’s global philosophy was instrumental in establishing ACTE’s Australasia Region, now the site of a major annual conference. “Following his term of office, Chris Crowley continued his commitment to the association by serving as chair of the ACTE Centre for Research & Education, from January 2012 – December 2013.”

Crowley received the award that has honored some of the most talented and gifted executives in the travel management industry with his signature smile. He also received a soccer ball, signed by ACTE’s officers and board members, in recognition of his personal passion for the sport, and for his professional status on the ACTE team.

The ACTE Presidents Award signifies the highest level of professional recognition for an individual, whose accomplishments have benefited both the association and the industry. “Chris Crowley’s accomplishments also say a lot for BCD Travel’s commitment to ACTE over the years,” said Neufang. “Executive talent goes far when backed by corporate confidence and leadership. And these continue to be important assets within our association.”
