Canberra travel agency and specialist tour operator, Active Travel, marked its 32nd birthday this week by moving its office and its team of eight from the first floor of the Garema Centre in the capital to a shiny new shopfront in the Lonsdale St ‘Mode 3’ Centre in Braddon in downtown Canberra.

And to celebrate the move, the founders and owners of Active Travel, adventure lovers – Robert Fletcher and Christine Pearson – hosted an office warming party in chilly Canberra this week (May 5), with loyal customers and ACT travel industry figures joining together in a ‘Travel Revolution’ –themed party. ‘Chairman’ Robert Fletcher, suitably attired to match his new title, said the theme of the celebration was chosen to mark the first tour Active Travel led in May, 1982, which was a bicycle tour of China. Mr Fletcher also said Active Travel had forged a “revolution” in travel experiences for Australians over the past 32 years.

Raffle prizes were also won on the night with prizes including a three-day Borneo safari and Virgin airport lounge passes.

Formed in 1982 by Australian adventure lovers, Robert Fletcher and Christine Pearson, with the aim of helping travellers ‘actively engage with and experience a destination and its culture’, Active Travel is a family-owned travel agency and tour company offering more than 100 tours, adventures, river cruises and polar expeditions on all the seven continents. Visit www.activetravel.com.au.
