July 29, 2017 Headline News No Comments Email Email

The group next to us on the terrace were in full party mood on a beautiful sunny Saturday afternoon outside of Cape Town and one of their members certainly had something to celebrate.

Stormers Rugby coach, Robbie Fleck, who lives just over the mountain, was at the stunning five star Tintswalo Atlantic Luxury Boutique Hotel celebrating with friends his team’s 30 to 22 victory over the Auckland Blues the day before in Cape Town.

Located on the world-famous Chapman’s Peak Road in Hout Bay, South Africa, the idyllic location is surrounded by scenic mountain ranges and the drive to the property from the top of the mountain is a bit like a big dipper experience.

Just a 20 minute drive from Cape Town, the property is nestled at the base of the ocean facing Table Mountain National Park and enjoys magnificent views of Hout Bay harbour, Sentinel Mountain Peak and the Atlantic Ocean beyond.

There was probably more celebrations on the terrace at the Tintswalo Atlantic as the Stormers topped the South African Super Rugby Conference.

MICHELANGELO HOTEL – A TRUE WORK OF ART

Michelangelo among other things was certainly a revolutionary as a sculptor, painter, architect and poet of the High Renaissance who exerted an unparalleled influence on the development of Western art. Whilst as contemporary but innovative the South African hotel with the same name at Sandton in Johannesburg certainly attains a similar standard of quality as the old master.

Situated at Mandela Square the epicenter of the Sandton area, the Michelangelo Hotel is surrounded by a massive shopping mall featuring designer shops and fine restaurants. The Gautrain the cities metro system is only a two minute walk. Guests can take advantage of a fitness center with personal trainers, a sauna and heated indoor pool. The spa is acclaimed for its grass-covered sundeck. Professional and friendly service has long made the hotel a leading choice for travellers.

The list of celebrities who have enjoyed the iconic Blue Train journeys between Cape Town and Pretoria is a who’s who of the entertainment world. Our own Kylie Minogue, Naomi Campbell, Mia Farrow and Elton John are a few of the stars who have experienced this five star journey.

The Blue Train route snakes through some of the most diverse and spectacular scenery offered by the African sub-continent for 30 hours and covers 1600 Km. The train departs Pretoria at 8.30am arriving in Cape Town the next day at 3pm. The return journey departs also at 8.30 and arrives in Pretoria at 3pm a day later. The Blue Train runs in both directions 2-3 times per week.  All meals, a high tea, drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) as well as off-train excursions are included.

The train travels at a maximum speed of 90 Km, is 380 metres long with 18 carriages, 14 housing guests. The origins date back to 1923 when the train took passengers from Johannesburg to Cape Town to catch the ships back to England. It was colloquially called the Blue Train as a reference to the blue painted steel carriages introduced in 1937.
