AFTA Aligning with AIME

egtmedia59Making a surprise guest appearance at AIME 2014 was the Australian Federation of Travel Agents team of Jayson Westbury and Gary O’Riordan; well it was not really a surprise, but it was the first time that AFTA had exhibited (for want of a better expression) on the floor of AIME, and there is a story and a reason behind that.

AFTA has formed a strategic partnership with AIME and as part of that partnership AFTA had a strong presence on the conference floor and in the AIME press conference.

Announcing the alliance on day one AIME Exhibition Director Jacqui Timmins, said; “The strategic partnership with AFTA demonstrate to our audience and our peers the importance of business travel to the business events arena.”  “The fact that a renowned organisation like AFTA has chosen to invest in AIME provides a major opportunity for the business travel industry and opens up the event to new audiences.”

AFTA CEO, Jayson Westbury, said he believed that 2014 was a great year to kick off the partnership, as he predicts the business travel industry will be truly thriving.  “AFTA is delighted to be working with AIME this year as a strategic partner, a year in which incentives, meetings and events travel should be trending strongly and the role of travel agents becomes even more relevant and important,”

E Global caught up with the AFTA team at the AFTA stand on day one and chatted with GM Accreditation Gary O’Riordan about the partnership, the reasons for it and the newly launched ATAS accreditation scheme that comes into being from July 1st this year; click here to listen to the interview……..
