The Australian Federation of Travel Agents has today announced the following office bearers of the AFTA Board of Directors following their meeting held post the AFTA AGM 15 July 2016.
Elected Chairman for his 8th term, Mike Thompson of Helloworld Ltd was returned as Chairman.
Elected Vice Chairman for his 8th term, Graham Turner of Flight Centre Travel Group Ltd was returned as Vice Chairman.
The AFTA constitution allows for two Vice Chair’s to be elected and for his first term as Vice Chair, Christian Hunter of Travellers Choice was elected to the second vice chair role for the first time.
The AFTA Board of Directors continues to service the membership and the broader industry on a range of important subjects which impact travel agencies across the country.
In addition, the AFTA Board approved a new ATAS Charter to be effective 15 July 2016 which provided a number of changes to clauses which seek to provide clarity on such areas necessary to ensure the ongoing robust nature of ATAS.
Jayson Westbury, Chief Executive, AFTA said; “Mike Thompson has provided the organsiation with genuine leadership and support over the past 7 years and his re-election to the position of Chairman should be welcomed by all involved.”
“With the two Vice Chairman roles being filled by both Skroo and Christian the organisation will continue to provide the industry leadership it has now become well known for,” said Westbury.
The new ATAS Charter, Revision 4 moves to place further clarity around a number of clauses which have been the subject of some challenge and to ensure that the document seeks to give certainty to the industry that ATAS is swift to adapt and change when required,” Westbury said.
