AFTA has participated in a global study conducted in conjunction with many of the WTAAA members and IATA in to what travel agents really think about the new IATA NDC.http://www.centarahotelsresorts.com/ The report titled NDC: Travel Agencies’  Enabler to Success can be read by clicking here.

The research which was fully funded by IATA (Geneva office) was undertaken by T2Impact and Atmosphere Research Group, two well respected travel industry research firms. 15 percent of responses to the global study came from the Australian market and AFTA played a key driving and coordinating role in the development of the research and report.

“This report provides a critical input to the global discussion about NDC, its potential and what really needs to happen from the travel agencies perspective,” said Jayson Westbury, AFTA Chief Executive.

“IATA, the airlines, GDS and other technology providers have been having a debate about NDC for the past three or more years and this report now provides valuable input on many of the questions being asked by travel agents about NDC as all involved consider moving to an implementation phase, if that is actually possible,” said Westbury.

“There is no question that travel agents need a level playing field to access airline ancillary products in the future and if NDC is truly the enabler to this, then the global travel agency community has now express its views on this and what they feel needs to happen. The GDS are critical to any future success of NDC from the travel agents point of view and it will be interesting now to see what airlines do in response to this report,” said Westbury.

The report canvases a range of questions and has been designed to be an easy to read and informative report for everyone in the travel value chain.
