AFTA sharpens up criteria for NTIA nominees

The nomination, voting and judging processes for AFTA’s National Travel Industry Awards (NTIA) will be conducted a little differently in 2018 – and a new separate category for home-based consultants will be introduced.

Nominees in selected categories will now be required to answer a range of questions to accept their nomination. A university-level marker will judge the answers and this process will determine who proceeds through to being a finalist. For most of the judged categories, this will eliminate voting.

“As we follow a continuous improvement mantra for NTIA, adding a two-step process and a next level of validation and business metrics to determine the best of the best in the various categories will greatly enhance the value of the process for participants,” Jayson Westbury, AFTA chief executive commented.

Additionally, a separate category for the home-based consultant model will be introduced in 2018 for the first time.

“The new category, Best Travel Broker Network, will celebrate the network which demonstrates best practice in service delivery through its network of professional travel consultants operating remotely to the company headquarters,” an AFTA statement said yesterday.

The category will be open to networks which can demonstrate they have more than 35 active individual participants within their network.

“It’s going to be a busy 2018 and NTIA is once again set to celebrate all the areas of the travel sector in Australia,” Westbury said.

“These enhancements have come as a result of feedback from the members, suppliers and the judges and we look forward to implementing them seamlessly.”http://www.seychelles.travel/

AFTA will hold the 2018 National Travel Industry Awards on Saturday 21 July 2018 in the Grand Ballroom at the International Convention Centre, Sydney.
