‘Aged’, ‘Art’, and ‘G&T’: Three New Cocktail Series at Disil, Tower Club at lebua

Distil Ciger Terrace_1_resizelebua’s Mixologist Ron Ramirez has been busy, really busy. Fans of creative beverages will be delighted to learn that he has launched not just one new cocktail series, but three.

The first series, ‘Aged’, represents Thailand’s very first of its kind. The ‘Aged’ cocktail is created in two processes – Maceration and Ageing. “We macerate,” Ron begins, “the fruits sprayed with house-made jasmine bitters for three days, then add the mixture to a fine bourbon and age it in a French oak barrel for 50 days.” It’s a complex process, but the results are simply delicious. This house-aged bourbon is then used to create three signature cocktails. A hot favorite for the ladies is the Vanity cocktail, served in a glass made entirely of ice. A lovely frothy strawberry color, the drink contains, along with other ingredients, fresh raspberries, lime, egg white, and pineapple.

“Our ‘Art’ series is, as the name suggests, artistic,” laughs Ron. “We call the series our ‘seven wonders’, given our seven distinctive methods (shaken, muddled, smoked, foaming, maceration, build and stir) used to create them. Expression and application, both in the creation of the drink and its appearance, are the focus.”  The something-for-everyone series includes: Earl’s River, a light cocktail so called after Earl Grey tea, one of its main ingredients; and Heaven’s Edge, whose secret spice foam creates a novel finish. The first is a cold-infused vodka elegantly stirred with freshly squeezed lemon juice and with earl grey leaves wrapped around the dry ice.

Last but not least, Ron says: “Our G&T series represents another first for Bangkok. He says: “We’re not only the first to use Bulldog gin from England, which is a premium dry gin, we are also at the forefront of the cold infusion we use in the process.” When infused with other flavors at such low temperatures, it is often mistaken for vodka as it is so smooth. Bulldog is cold-infused for two days with Ron’s novel combinations (fruits and roots; nuts and flowers; apples and berries; petals and spices) to create the unique G&T cocktail line. Must-tries include: the apple and berries G&T, whose sweet apple flavored mixture is both smooth and refreshing.

All three series are already available to sample at Distil Bar.
