Tourism New Zealand has partnered with Air New Zealand to launch an engaging new tool for its 2019 trade ski campaign.

The trade campaign will run from 4 March to 26 May across Australia and includes the launch of a mobile game Kiwi Peak Pros, an educational trade engagement tool.

The interactive mobile game encourages Australian travel agents to learn about each of New Zealand’s ski regions by collecting as many icons as possible in a timed period.

Each of New Zealand’s world-class ski regions is represented in the game, from the skiable volcano of Mt Ruapehu in the North Island, to the wide, open trails of Mt Hutt, and the stunning alpine ski fields in Queenstown and Wanaka.

Travel agents who play Kiwi Peak Pros can also compete against their colleagues by selling Air New Zealand trans-Tasman flights, for a chance to win return flights to New Zealand, including a ski experience.

Tourism New Zealand General Manager Australia, Andrew Waddel, said Kiwi Peak Pros is an innovative and exciting first for Tourism New Zealand.

“We know from our research that 49 per cent of Australian travellers book their New Zealand holiday through travel agents, so engaging with agents to expand their product knowledge is key to our success.

“Once agents play Kiwi Peak Pros, they’ll be directed to the New Zealand ski hub page where fact sheets for each mountain will help them bolster their knowledge of New Zealand’s iconic ski fields.

Kiwi Peak Pros is a fresh and engaging way for agents to learn more about New Zealand’s ski offering, and how to sell it to Australian consumers.

“In addition to the Air New Zealand sales incentive, agents can also complete the “How to sell ski New Zealand” online module between 4 March – 26 May 2019 to be in the draw to win a $100 voucher to kick start their winter wardrobe,” Andrew Waddel added.

Air New Zealand Regional General Manager Australia Kathryn Robertson says with the airline’s enhanced trans-Tasman schedule, including new Brisbane-Queenstown flights, New Zealand’s ski fields are in easy reach.

“With direct flights to Queenstown from Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, we’re offering close to 20 percent more seats into the winter hotspot this ski season compared to last year.  We’ve also upped capacity into Christchurch from Melbourne and Brisbane.

“Every year we see more Australians travelling to New Zealand for their dream ski holiday and it’s fantastic to partner with Tourism New Zealand to showcase why Air New Zealand is a better way to fly.”
