The event hosted by the South Pacific Tourism Organisation (SPTO), gives agents the chance to learn more about their closest neighbours, providing them with the tools to generate more interest and bookings for South Pacific destinations.

More than 90 Sydney travel agents and 40 Canberra agents attended the two events, where they gained insights from tourism office representatives from destinations including: Cook Islands; New Caledonia; Norfolk Island; Papua New Guinea; Samoa, Solomon Islands; Tahiti; Vanuatu and some hidden treasures (Kiribati, Nauru, Marshall Islands, Palau, Federated States of Micronesia, Tonga, Tuvalu, American Samoa, Niue). The event also included a trade show and presentations from each representatives.

The Treasures of the South Pacific Roadshow will continue later in the year with an event planned in Brisbane on 11 October, 2016 and then the Sunshine Coast on 12 October, 2016. Registrations will  open in the coming months.

Travel agents can also sign up and complete the SPTO online training to become a South Pacific Specialist at southpacificspecialist.org.
