CLIA Australasia has revealed more details of this year’s CLIA Asia River Cruise Conference and Destination Forum including the exciting news that chef and restaurateur Luke Nguyen will be part of the inaugural event.

The Vietnamese-Australian chef has been named as a special guest at the event, and is set to share his experience working with APT in Asia, as well as host a dinner for delegates in Ho Chi Minh City.

CLIA has also announced that Executive Vice President and Co-Owner of AmaWaterways Kristin Karst will join the conference, speaking alongside CLIA Head of International Training & Development Peter Kollar at the conference.

CLIA Australasia & Asia Managing Director Joel Katz said: “The CLIA Asia River Cruise Conference and Destination Forum is shaping up to be a must-attend event for our member agents. The conference will be packed with great information for anyone with an interest in the burgeoning Asia river cruise market and the chance to dine with one of Australia’s most talented chefs in his home country will be a truly memorable experience for delegates,” Mr Katz said.

The conference will take place from April 10 to 15, 2018, in Ho Chi Minh City, and will include a three-night sample cruise on the Mekong River from Ho Chi Minh in Vietnam to Phnom Penh in Cambodia including a visit to a floating market, a tribal village and a cat fish farm.

The conference component will be held from April 10 to 11 at Le Meridien Saigon Hotel and will feature sessions to help agents identify potential river cruise customers and learn more about the wide variety of experiences offered on a river cruise holiday, with a specific focus on the booming Asian market.

The Destination Forum will provide insight into the cruising product on offer in Asian hotspots such as Vietnam and Cambodia, while agents can also get involved in networking during a trade fair, hosted dinners and one-on-one meetings.

“This exciting, new CLIA event is the perfect opportunity for cruise agents to find out more about this incredibly diverse and intriguing region, and the myriad river cruise options available right on our doorstep. The chance to experience an Asia river cruise first hand will be a great way for agents to immerse themselves in the product and get an in-depth understanding of a region which holds immense potential.”

The conference is available to CLIA Member Travel Agents only and all delegates will receive a total of 60 CLIA points for attending.

Earlybird tickets are available for AU$195 and include conference registration, twin share accommodation on a Pandaw Mekong River cruise with transfers and meals as specified in the itinerary.

Special hotel rates are available at Le Meridien Saigon.
