The winners of United Airlines recent Ski incentive, which ran from 1 August to 30 September 2013, enjoyed 9 days exploring the best ski resorts Colorado has to offer, including Aspen, Snowmass, Vail, Breckenridge and Steamboat.

With a number of first time skiers among the team, agents were able to pick up a few tricks of the season both on and off the slopes!

Agents, Dawn O’Rourke (Travelplan), Michelle Gray (Travelplan), Nathan Singh (Snowcapped Tours), Natalie Hadikin (Travel Specialists) and Glenys Flegg ( began their journey in Aspen where they were welcomed by deep powder and exceptionally groomed runs.

Hitting the slopes running, the group were joined by Candace Sherman, International Sales Manager for Aspen Skiing Company, who shared information and accompanied the team on a variety of activities including long ski runs, hot-tubs galore and a farewell firework display.

Aspen’s Buttermilk Mountain was a standout for agents. With its 50 year legacy and number one spot in the Transworld Snowboarding Magazine Poll for best pipes* – Buttermilk mountain is perfect for families and beginners.

Following their stay at Aspen, the group drove just under two hours to Vail where they were met by Laura Kirby, International Market Manager for Vail Resorts, who was ready to show them how to have a great time in the area! Their stay at Vail Resorts’ properties included group visits to the slopes in Vail, Beaver Creek and a two day stay in Breckenridge, where the group was entertained by an awesome six-mile dog sledding tour.

To quote the entire team, “Everything about Vail was epic”. The village, the lift ticket, the lodge at Vail, the food, the bars and the EpicMix app were highlights for the team. The Vail Resorts’ EpicMix app was a must have for the skiers at Vail Resorts, who were able to view and purchase photos that were captured on the slopes. It also provided them with access to trail maps, lifts status, weather reports and even pinpointed their exact vertical height on the mountain!

The final famil destination was Steamboat, Colorado – the home of Champagne Powder® snow, averaging 8.3 metres per winter.

Steamboat provided agents with plenty of terrain and a diversity of trails suitable for all ability levels. Jenny O’Farrell, International Sales Manager for Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation, treated the group with special access to the First Tracks terrain which allows special access to terrain from the Sundown Express, Sunshine and South Peak lifts and the famous Priest Creek area before other skiers.

The group stayed at The Steamboat Grand, located walking distance from the Gondola Square. It’s not too late to go to Colorado and experience the best snow conditions in years. Most resorts will stay open until mid-April.

Following the success of 2013 ski incentive, United is planning to re-introduce the incentive in May 2014. Stay tuned for updates!
