Twenty-five travel agents and tour operators from ten countries, including Australia, gathered in Oregon the second week in May for a seven day road trip of the state.

The fam was an opportunity for the group to gain further knowledge of the destination and focus on expanded itinerary development beyond the traditional USA gateways as Australian consumer enquiries continue to increase to further afield USA destinations like Oregon.

The trip kicked off in the city of Portland with agents testing out Portland craft beer and wine, cheering on the Portland Blazers NBA team and cruising the Willamette River and Columbia River Gorge.   Agents then continued exploring the state with a visit to Central Oregon’s city – Bend and Fort Rock State Park.   From Central Oregon the group continues east to Eastern Oregon checking out the Journey Through Time Scenic Byway along with the history of the region, the cowboy and Native American Indian culture.   Finally the group looped around heading back to Portland, but not before calling into the famous Mt Hood and a slide down the snow capped mountain.

Australian trade included Jan Copeman from Travel Associates and Jessica Johnson of Intepid Travel Group along with Karen McCardle and Corey Marshall from Canuckiwi (Travel Oregon’s Australian trade representatives).
