August 16, 2014 OTA News No Comments Email Email, one of Asia’s leading hotel booking sites and part of NASDAQ-listed Priceline Group, has uncovered great hotel deals for the high-octane 2014 Formula 1 Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix, Asia’s most exciting racing event.

Come 19th, 20th, and 21st September this year, the streets of Singapore will be shut to traffic and grandstands will be set up around the city. When the crowds gather, they’ll be able to watch some of the world’s best drivers race their finely-tuned machines through a 5km track that winds its way through downtown Singapore, but don’t blink – the cars can reach speeds of over 300 km/h! The race is held at night in order for European viewers to enjoy the competition at a convenient time, a schedule which also allows the course to be dramatically lit along its entire length.

There are eleven teams competing this year from industry-leading names such as McLaren Mercedes, Sauber F1, and Scuderia Ferrari. In addition, Sebastian Vettel from the Infiniti Red Bull team will be out to break his record setting lap from last year, which was completed in 1 minute and 48.547 seconds at an average speed of almost 168km/h.

There will be much more to do than simply watch the races too. Event organizers have put together a superb lineup of off-track activity entertainment, including music performances from Ziggy Marley, Mayday, Jennifer Lopez, and Robbie Williams among others. There will also be illusionists, workshops, and theatrical performances by troupes visiting from the UK, Africa, Chile and beyond.

For a change of pace, Rev-Up Singapore has organized a variety of activities to enjoy. Kids will love the behind-the-scenes tour of the race paddock, team garages, and restricted areas like the control room and race podium. After that, visit the Pit Stop at The Libraries road show, or apply for the karting program to receive training in racing theory and fundamentals, as well as practical workshops (for Singapore residents only).

Even for those who aren’t fans of racing, Singapore has put together an event that offers something for everyone. To help attendees get the most out of their stay, has chosen ten hotels with great specials. Head to the PR center ( to check them out, and we’ll see you at the races!
