To expand educational opportunities from the Farm Progress Show in Boone, Iowa, the University of Illinois College of Agriculture, Consumer & Environmental Sciences (ACES) will hold its International Agronomy Day on Monday, August 25, 2014.

Producing sufficient food to feed an ever-increasing world population is a challenge being addressed by agriculturalists around the globe. Faculty of the College of ACES at the University of Illinois are actively engaged in research that ultimately will provide solutions to many global food security issues. Communicating these results with international audiences is the focus of the University of Illinois International Agronomy Day.

The second annual International Agronomy Day will be held at the Crop Sciences Research and Education Center from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on August 25, 2014. The date and time will allow participants the opportunity to participate in six field-level research presentations, while providing international visitors sufficient time to travel for the beginning of the Farm Progress Show.

The Department of Crop Sciences at the University of Illinois encourages producers from around the globe to participate in this unique forum bringing its nationally renowned faculty together to share the latest in agronomy, weed science, crop production, pest management, agricultural economics and more.

“Every year we receive many requests to host international visitors, and this is our way of meeting that demand by creating an annual event with targeted messages to answer their most pressing questions while helping them achieve their goals,” said Aaron Hager, International Agronomy Day chairman. “We hope to create a new tradition for people who attend the Farm Progress Show and add value to their experience.”

Groups looking to attend International Agronomy Day can contact Angela Ingerson, Leisure Sales & Tourism Director with Visit Champaign County at 217-351-4133 or
